 Red Ribbon Week 2025

The first Red Ribbon Week was held in 1985 in response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena. In honor of Camarena's memory and his battle against illegal drugs, friends and neighbors began to wear red badges of satin. Since 1988, the National Family Partnership has sponsored the National Red Ribbon Celebration. Today, the Red Ribbon serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities.

Florence Elementary will celebrate Red Ribbon Week with a dress-up week with each day themed to an anti-drug message.

Monday, October 27th: Wear Red to Kick off the Week
Tuesday, October 28th: "Team Up Against Drugs"- Wear your favorite sports t-shirt or jersey
Wednesday, October 29th: "Too Bright for Drugs"- Wear neon/bright colors
Thursday, October 30th: "Sock it to Drugs"- Wear your funkiest/brightes socks.
Friday, October 31st: "Say Boo to Drugs"- Wear all white and dress as a ghost OR wear your Halloween costume

Guidance for Halloween Costumes- no blood, no gore, no masks, no weapons. Any student wearing anything deemed by an administrator or teacher as disruptive to the learning environment will be asked to remove it. All costumes must be school appropriate.
